North Field

Tent Camping at Sycamore

Camping is permitted in three isolated sections of the property. Two of the sites are well shaded while the third is located in a open grassy area. Any outdoor fire must be granted by the property owner and will depend upon any outdoor burning restrictions and/or current weather conditions. There is also a communal fire ring closer to the Stone House where fires are permitted under much less restrictive conditions.

The three campsites are described below.

Toward the far north of the property is the Walnut Grove campsite. Located at the end of the North Walking trail, it is some 1000 feet from the Stone House.

Closer to civilization is the Watergap site, although unfortunately the streams dried up in the 1950's, this site is named after a small but picturesque geological formation where two streams came together to carve a gap in the 90-foot high east ridge. This site is roughly 500 feet from the Stone House and is located at the end of the Water Gap trail.

Sycamore Grove campsite
The more open site is located in the Upper Sycamore Grove. This site is higher in elevation than the other campsites and is therefore a bit warmer. It commands a view of the West Pasture and has easy access to the larger North Field (perfect for stargazing). This site is located approximately 800 feet from the Stone House at the juncture of the West Walk, North Field, and Sycamore Grove walking paths.
